The Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has officially announced the commencement of online registration for the 2026 Screening Test into Lagos State Model Colleges and Upgraded Junior Secondary Schools with boarding facilities for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The registration exercise is being coordinated by the Lagos State Examinations Board and was confirmed in a statement signed by the Board’s Registrar, Adebayo Orunsolu.

According to the announcement, the registration portal opened on Monday, January 19, 2026, and will remain accessible until Friday, May 15, 2026.

Eligibility and Registration Process

The screening test is designed for Primary Six pupils currently enrolled in both public and private primary schools across Lagos State.

Parents, guardians, school owners, and head teachers have been advised to complete the registration process online through the official portal of the Lagos State Examinations Board.

Officials also confirmed that the registration fee has been fixed at ₦10,000. In addition, candidates who are indigenes of Lagos State must upload a valid Lagos State Indigeneship Certificate during the application process.

Computer-Based Screening Test

The screening examination will be conducted using the Computer-Based Test (CBT) format and is tentatively scheduled to take place from Wednesday, May 27 to Friday, May 29, 2026, at designated centres across the state.

The Registrar urged parents and school administrators to carefully follow all registration guidelines to ensure a smooth process for eligible candidates.

He reiterated that the state government remains committed to transparency, fairness, and merit-based admissions into the state’s prestigious Model Colleges and upgraded junior secondary schools.

Admission Based on Merit

Placement into the schools will be strictly determined by candidates’ performance in the screening test. Cut-off marks may vary depending on the specific school selected and the overall performance of candidates.

The Lagos Model Colleges Screening Test serves a similar purpose to the National Common Entrance Examination used for admission into Federal Unity Colleges. The assessment evaluates pupils’ readiness for secondary education through subjects such as English Language, Mathematics, and General Knowledge.

Education stakeholders are encouraged to ensure that eligible pupils register early and begin adequate preparation ahead of the examination dates.
