The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has announced an extension of the registration deadline for the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination into technical colleges across Nigeria.

According to the board, the new registration deadline is now May 31, 2026, replacing the earlier closing date. In addition, the examination date has been rescheduled from June 6 to June 13, 2026.

The announcement was contained in a statement released in Benin City by the Assistant Director of Media and Protocol, Uchechukwu Olisah, on behalf of the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Aminu Mohammed.

According to the statement, the approval for the extension was communicated through an internal memorandum signed by the Director of Examinations Administration, Chigoziem Metu.

The board explained that the decision was made following requests from prospective candidates who needed additional time to complete their registration process. It added that the extension was meant to ensure that more eligible candidates are able to participate without being disadvantaged by time constraints.

Officials also urged candidates interested in technical and vocational education to take advantage of the extended registration period and complete all necessary formalities before the deadline.

NABTEB further encouraged students with entrepreneurial interests and those seeking admission into higher institutions to consider technical college education as a viable pathway for skills development and career advancement.

The examination remains a key national assessment used for admission into technical colleges across Nigeria, aimed at promoting vocational and technical education among young learners.
