There was excitement and celebration in Lilu community, located in Ihiala Local Government Area, as the Nigerian Army distributed educational materials to pupils of Ogwumabiri Primary School.

The items presented included school bags and exercise books, aimed at supporting pupils in their academic journey and improving access to basic learning materials.

Representing the General Officer Commanding of the 82 Division Nigerian Army, Oluremi Fadairo, Brigadier General S. A. Jimoh explained that the initiative was designed to give pupils a sense of belonging while encouraging them to strive for academic excellence. He noted that the Army remains committed to strengthening relationships with host communities while promoting education as a foundation for national development.

According to him, the gesture reflects the Army’s long-standing tradition of supporting education and fostering positive civil-military relations. He emphasized that education plays a vital role in shaping society, improving economic well-being, and driving overall development.

Brigadier General Jimoh also encouraged the pupils and teachers to make good use of the materials to enhance learning outcomes. He reassured the community of the Army’s commitment to maintaining security and ensuring a safe environment for both education and daily life.

In a similar vein, the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Olabisi Ayeni, described children as the future of every community. She highlighted the importance of peace in achieving sustainable development and urged residents who had left the area due to insecurity to return, noting that normalcy was gradually being restored.

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the Head Teacher, Grace Nnubia, expressed gratitude to the Army for the generous support. She assured that the school would continue to uphold high academic standards and make effective use of the donated materials.

The pupils, visibly excited, expressed their joy and appreciation, while community members commended the Army for restoring hope and reviving social activities in the area.

The presentation team also included Madaki Yakubu, Commander of the 302 Artillery Regiment (General Support), Onitsha, alongside other senior officers from the division.
