Memory Verse: Even the wind and the sea obey him! – Mark 4:41
Bible Readings
- Mark 4:35–41
- Matthew 14:22–33
Jesus Calms the Sea
One day, Jesus and his disciples were in a boat on the sea. Suddenly, a strong wind blew, and the waves were very high. The disciples were afraid. Jesus was sleeping, and they woke him up. Jesus stood up and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” The wind stopped, and the sea became calm.
This showed that Jesus has power over the sea and the wind.
Jesus Walks on the Sea
Another time, the disciples were in a boat at night. The wind was blowing, and the waves were strong. Jesus came to them, walking on the water. The disciples were scared, thinking he was a ghost. But Jesus said, “Do not be afraid, it is I.” Peter asked to walk on the water too. Jesus told him to come. Peter walked on the water but started sinking when he was afraid. Jesus caught him and saved him.
Jesus showed that he is greater than the forces of nature.
