1. Transferring Data

  2. Right-click and choose “Copy” (to duplicate) or “Cut” (to move) or use Ctrl+C / Ctrl+X.

2. Merging Cells

Merging cells is the process of combining two or more adjacent cells into a single, larger cell. This is often used for creating titles or labels that span across multiple columns or rows.

Steps to merge cells:

  1. Select the range of cells you want to merge.
  2. Go to the “Home” tab on the Excel ribbon.
  3. In the “Alignment” group, click on the “Merge & Center” button (or click the arrow for other merge options like Merge Across, Merge Cells).

To unmerge cells, select the merged cell and click the “Merge & Center” button again.

3. Inserting and Removing Borders

Borders are lines that can be added around cells or ranges of cells to improve readability, highlight specific data, or create a structured appearance.

Steps to insert borders:

  1. Select the cell(s) or range where you want to add borders.
  2. Go to the “Home” tab.
  3. In the “Font” group, click the arrow next to the “Borders” button.

Steps to remove borders:

  1. Select the cell(s) or range from which you want to remove borders.

4. Inserting and Removing Gridlines

Gridlines are the faint grey lines that separate cells on a worksheet. They are visible by default but can be hidden for a cleaner look, especially when printing.

Steps to remove gridlines:

  1. Go to the “View” tab on the Excel ribbon.
