The Lagos State Government has released the 2026/2027 Harmonised Academic Calendar for public and private primary and secondary schools across the state.

The approved calendar provides important dates for the new academic session, including school resumption, mid-term breaks, examinations and holidays.

Education Stakeholders Reviewed the Calendar

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, announced the release of the calendar following consultations with key stakeholders in the education sector.

The consultation process was facilitated by the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), with stakeholders meeting to review and agree on the major dates for the 2026/2027 academic session.

According to the state government, the calendar was finalised after two stakeholder meetings where participants considered the academic schedule and reached an agreement on the dates to be adopted by schools.

What the 2026/2027 School Calendar Contains

The harmonised calendar outlines key activities that schools, teachers, parents and students will need to plan for throughout the academic year.

It includes:

  • School resumption dates
  • Mid-term break periods

  • School holidays
  • Other important academic activities

The harmonised approach is expected to make it easier for families and schools to plan their activities around the academic session.

Lagos Government Urges Schools to Comply

Speaking on the approved calendar, Commissioner Alli-Balogun said the unified schedule reflects the Lagos State Government’s commitment to improving the quality of education and ensuring a well-organised academic year.

He urged both public and private schools across the state to strictly follow the approved academic calendar.

The government also encouraged parents and students to familiarise themselves with the schedule so they can adequately prepare for resumption, examinations, breaks and other activities during the session.
