The Lagos State Government has officially approved and released the harmonised 2026/2027 academic calendar for all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state.

The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, who explained that the calendar was developed through extensive consultations with key education stakeholders.

According to the commissioner, the harmonised calendar was approved after two stakeholders’ meetings coordinated by the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA). During the meetings, participants reviewed and agreed on the major dates that will guide activities throughout the 2026/2027 academic session.

The newly approved calendar provides a comprehensive schedule covering school resumption dates, mid-term breaks, examination periods, and official holidays. It is intended to assist school administrators, teachers, parents, and students in planning academic activities efficiently and ensuring smooth implementation of the school year.

Alli-Balogun stated that the unified calendar demonstrates the Lagos State Government’s commitment to maintaining high educational standards and promoting effective coordination between public and private schools. He urged all schools across the state to strictly adhere to the approved academic schedule.

The government also encouraged members of the public to access the complete 2026/2027 academic calendar through the official website of the Office of Education Quality Assurance as well as other official Lagos State Government digital platforms.

The harmonised academic calendar is expected to improve consistency in school operations across Lagos, making it easier for education stakeholders to coordinate teaching, learning, assessments, and other academic activities throughout the session.
