The Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has extended the qualifying examination for its ongoing teachers’ recruitment exercise from two days to three days due to the large number of eligible applicants.
The examination, which was initially scheduled to hold on Friday, August 14, and Saturday, August 15, 2026, will now commence on Thursday, August 13, and end on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
The Permanent Secretary of Ekiti SUBEB, Michael Omolayo, disclosed the adjustment in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Monday.
According to Omolayo, the additional examination day was introduced to enable the board to effectively accommodate and assess the large number of applicants who successfully completed the recruitment application process.
Why Ekiti SUBEB Extended the Examination
The adjustment became necessary following the high volume of applications received for the recruitment exercise.
SUBEB explained that applicants who successfully completed their applications would be informed of their assigned examination dates and times through the email addresses they provided during registration.
Candidates have therefore been advised to check their registered email accounts carefully and follow the instructions contained in their examination notifications.
Ekiti Government Approves Recruitment of Teachers
The recruitment exercise follows the approval of the Ekiti State Government to employ additional teachers for public primary schools across the state.
The initiative was approved by Governor Biodun Oyebanji as part of efforts to address staffing gaps and improve the quality of teaching and learning in public schools.
The Chairman of Ekiti SUBEB, Prof. Femi Akinwumi, said the recruitment reflects the state government’s commitment to repositioning basic education and improving service delivery.
He explained that the recruitment would focus on filling consequential vacancies created by the retirement of teachers over the past few years.
According to him, the exercise is intended to address existing staffing shortages in public primary schools and ensure that schools have adequate numbers of teachers.
CBT Examination Venue and Requirements
The qualifying examination will be conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) at Ekiti State University in Ado-Ekiti.
Shortlisted candidates are expected to appear at the examination centre on the date and time assigned to them.
Candidates have also been directed to come with printed copies of their application forms, which will be required for verification at the examination venue.
SUBEB warned that only applicants who have received official invitations for the examination will be allowed into the examination halls.
Mobile Phones Banned at Examination Centre
The board also reminded candidates that mobile phones and other electronic devices will not be allowed inside the examination premises.
Applicants have been advised to arrive at the venue only at their designated times and avoid loitering around the examination centre.
The Permanent Secretary urged all candidates to strictly comply with the examination schedule and other instructions contained in their notification emails.
The extension of the examination period is expected to give Ekiti SUBEB enough time to conduct the recruitment test efficiently while accommodating the large number of qualified applicants seeking teaching positions in the state’s public primary schools.
