A non-profit organisation, Wings of Compassion Foundation (WINCOF), has provided **250 durable school bags and educational materials** to pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds in Oyo town as part of its effort to support learning and encourage compassion among young people.

The distribution exercise was carried out during a two-day outreach programme across two public primary schools in the area. The initiative aims to ease the burden on families while helping pupils stay organised and motivated in their academic journey.

Community Engagement and Royal Visit

The outreach began with a courtesy visit by the WINCOF team to the palace of Abimbola Akeem Owoade, the Alaafin of Oyo. Representatives of the foundation discussed community development and highlighted the importance of compassion and social responsibility in strengthening society.

The delegation was led by Evang. Abel Ogunniyi and Pastor Dawodu Moses A., who represented the foundation’s Managing Director, Mr. Temiloluwa Ogunniyi, and Dooshima Ogunniyi during the visit.

Bags Distributed to Pupils in Two Schools

The team later visited **ADS Primary School in Agunpopo (Atiba Local Government Area)** and **Methodist Primary School in Apaara (Oyo East Local Government Area)**, where the bags and book dividers were distributed to pupils.

The gesture was warmly received by pupils, teachers, and parents, many of whom expressed appreciation for the support provided to children from less privileged families.

Local education officials also attended the event. The Education Secretary of Atiba Local Government Universal Basic Education Authority (UBEA), Mr. Salawu Wasiu Adewale, was present at ADS Primary School, while Mrs. Funmilayo Adekunbi O., Education Secretary of Oyo East UBEA, attended the distribution at Methodist Primary School.

Their participation underscored the importance of partnerships between **community organisations and education authorities** in improving access to learning resources for pupils.

Message of Compassion to Young Learners

During the programme, Pastor Dawodu Moses addressed the pupils on behalf of the foundation, encouraging them to grow up with values of kindness and compassion toward others.

He emphasised that every child deserves dignity, respect, and equal opportunities in life, reminding the pupils that they should believe in their potential regardless of their background.

The speaker also urged the children to practise compassion from a young age, stressing that positive values developed early can shape a better future for individuals and society.

School administrators praised the foundation for supporting pupils not only with learning materials but also with motivational guidance aimed at strengthening their confidence and emotional well-being.
