JAMB Fixes June 13 for 2026 UTME Mop-Up Examination

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced Saturday, June 13, 2026, as the official date for the conduct of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mop-up exercise.

The examination body disclosed this in a statement released by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, explaining that the mop-up exam is meant for candidates who were verified through biometric screening but could not sit for the examination due to technical issues and other challenges experienced during the main exercise.

According to JAMB, the 2026 UTME was held between April 23 and April 29, 2026, across accredited centres nationwide. However, some centres reportedly encountered technical problems that prevented several candidates from taking the examination successfully.

The board also revealed that some examination results were withdrawn because of examination malpractice and infractions, while other candidates could not complete the verification process during the exercise. All affected candidates, the board said, have now been scheduled for the mop-up examination.

JAMB described the mop-up test as the concluding phase of the yearly UTME process, giving candidates who faced genuine difficulties another opportunity to participate in the examination.

The board advised all affected candidates to begin printing their examination notification slips from Saturday, June 6, 2026, in preparation for the exercise. Candidates were also encouraged to confirm their examination centres early and make adequate travel and logistical arrangements before the examination date.

JAMB emphasized that the mop-up exercise would serve as the final opportunity for eligible candidates to sit for the 2026 UTME, adding that no further examination would be conducted afterward.

More than two million candidates participated in the 2026 UTME nationwide. Following the release of results, JAMB retained the minimum admission benchmark at 150 for universities and 100 for polytechnics while also reopening its portal for candidates seeking changes to their course of study or institution.
