The Nigerian Coat of Arms

The Nigerian Coat of Arms is a powerful symbol that represents the unity and strength of the nation. Each component has a specific meaning:

Black Shield: Represents Nigeria’s fertile soil.
Two White Wavy Bands on the Shield: Represent the two main rivers of Nigeria, River Niger and River Benue, which meet at Lokoja.
Two Horses: Symbolize dignity and speed.
Eagle: Represents strength.
Wreath (Green and White Bands): Represents the rich agricultural land of Nigeria.
Red Flowers (Coctus Spectabilis): These are the national flowers of Nigeria, found all over the country.

The Nigerian National Flag

The National Flag of Nigeria is a vertical bicolour of green, white, and green. It was designed by Mr. Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi in 1959 and officially hoisted on October 1, 1960, during Nigeria’s independence.

The Nigerian National Currency
