Authenticity means being real and true. It helps us to know what is genuine and what is fake. It means something is real, true, and trusted.

Authenticity is important in security. It helps us to know if something or someone is genuine. It keeps us safe from danger and protects lives and property.

Importance of Authenticity

The following are importance of authenticity:

It helps people to trust one another
It prevents cheating and lies
It keeps properties and lives safe
It helps to identify fake items
It builds honesty and respect in society

Checking Authenticity

Authenticity means being genuine or truly coming from the person or place claimed. A school notice, identity card, website or message can be checked through a trusted source.

A pupil should not click an unknown link or obey a message merely because it uses a familiar name or picture. Ask a trusted adult, check the sender through another method and look for altered details.
