The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a new system that allows candidates to upload and verify their O’Level results from home without having to visit a Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre.
The new process is designed to make the O’Level result-upload procedure easier, faster and more reliable by allowing JAMB to verify candidates’ results directly with the examination bodies that issued them.
The verification process is beginning with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
According to JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Fabian Benjamin, the initiative is part of the board’s efforts to improve service delivery and reduce problems associated with manual result uploads.
Why JAMB introduced the new O’Level result system
Under the previous process, candidates who needed to upload their O’Level results often had to visit approved CBT centres. This could result in long queues, delays and additional expenses, particularly during peak admission periods.
JAMB said the new technology-driven system is intended to address some of these challenges.
The board noted that the system will help reduce cases involving misplaced or incorrectly uploaded results, fraudulent documents and errors made by candidates when manually entering their subjects and grades.
It is also expected to reduce the number of unnecessary visits candidates make to CBT centres.
How candidates can upload their O’Level results from home
Candidates using the new system are required to begin the process through JAMB’s result verification platform.
The general process includes the following steps:
- Visit the designated O’Level result verification platform and enter your National Identification Number (NIN).
- Select “Verify NIN” to proceed.
- Choose the number of examination sittings and select the relevant examination body.
- Enter your email address and phone number.
- Select “Pay Now” and complete the required payment using the available payment options, such as a debit card or bank transfer.
- Provide your examination number, examination series and examination year.
- Obtain your Verification Code after completing the required information.
- Send “VERIFY” followed by your Verification Code to 55019 or 66019, as directed by JAMB.
- Once the result has been successfully verified, candidates will receive a notification confirming the process.
Candidates with two O’Level sittings
Candidates who have results from two examination sittings will need to complete an additional step through the JAMB e-Facility portal.
After logging into the portal, candidates should select “2026 UTME O’Level Upload” and enter the Verification Code generated during the verification process.
They will then be required to select between five and nine subjects, ensuring that the same subject is not entered more than once.
Candidates should review the information carefully before selecting “Apply the O’Level Results” to complete the process.
A confirmation will be provided after the application has been successfully submitted.
New system expected to reduce CBT centre congestion
JAMB said the new system is expected to make the admission process more convenient for candidates by reducing dependence on physical visits to CBT centres.
The board particularly highlighted the challenges candidates face during busy periods when network congestion, heavy traffic and long queues can make it difficult to complete admission-related processes.
By allowing eligible candidates to verify and upload their O’Level results remotely, JAMB hopes to improve accessibility and reduce some of the pressure on CBT centres.
The board also said it would continue collaborating with examination bodies and relevant government agencies to improve its services and make them more accessible to candidates.
The development represents another step towards greater digitalisation of Nigeria’s tertiary admission process, while giving candidates more options for completing important JAMB requirements without unnecessary physical visits.
