Read the passage below carefully and answer questions 1-10.
Adebayo woke up early, the aroma of his mother’s akara already filling their small compound. Today was the day of the inter-house sports competition, and he was determined to make his Yellow House proud. He quickly gulped down his breakfast, grabbed his running shoes, and dashed out, his heart pounding with excitement.
At the school field, the atmosphere was electric. Flags of different house colours fluttered in the breeze. The cheers of students and teachers echoed as the events began. Adebayo was entered for the 100-meter race and the long jump. He watched his friends compete, offering shouts of encouragement. When it was his turn for the 100-meter race, he took a deep breath, focused on the finish line, and exploded off the starting block at the sound of the whistle. He ran with all his might, pushing past his competitors. He crossed the finish line first, securing a gold medal for Yellow House. The crowd erupted in wild cheers. Later, he also won a silver in the long jump. Adebayo felt a surge of pride. His hard work in practice had paid off.
