The Benue State Government has announced plans to recruit additional teachers for primary and secondary schools across the state as part of efforts to address manpower shortages and improve the quality of education.
Governor Hyacinth Alia disclosed this during his ongoing “Thank-You Tour” across Benue State, where he interacted with traditional rulers, religious leaders, political office holders and other stakeholders in Buruku and Gboko Local Government Areas.
Government Plans Further Teacher Recruitment
Governor Alia said the planned recruitment would build on the employment of 9,700 primary school teachers by his administration.
According to him, the state still requires more qualified teachers to strengthen the education sector, improve classroom instruction and achieve better learning outcomes for pupils and students.
The governor emphasized that investing in teachers remains an important part of improving the standard of education, particularly as schools continue to require adequate manpower to effectively cater to learners.
Alia Promises Continued Investment in Education
The governor also reiterated his administration’s commitment to human capital development and the improvement of infrastructure across the state.
He explained that the government would continue to prioritize projects and programmes that have a direct and positive impact on the lives of residents.
According to Alia, the achievements recorded by his administration over the past three years form part of a broader development agenda aimed at promoting people-oriented development across Benue.
Governor Calls for Unity and Peace
Beyond education and infrastructure, Governor Alia urged the people of Benue State to place the collective interests of the state above political differences.
He called on residents and stakeholders to work together to promote peace, stability and sustainable development.
The proposed recruitment of additional teachers is expected to strengthen staffing levels in schools and support the state government’s efforts to improve educational delivery across Benue.
