Artificial Vagina Method

- Lining the artificial vagina with lubricant.
- Allowing the male animal to mount a dummy or a oestrous female.

Massage Method
This method is primarily used for boars and sometimes for bulls. It involves manual stimulation of the male reproductive organs to induce ejaculation. The steps are:
- Restraining the male animal.
- Massaging the accessory sex glands (e.g., seminal vesicles, prostate gland) through the rectum.
- Massaging the penis and prepuce until ejaculation occurs.
- Collecting the semen in a sterile container.
Electro-ejaculation Method
This method is used for animals that are difficult to train for an artificial vagina or when semen collection is needed from injured or unwilling males. It involves:
- Restraining the animal, often under light anaesthesia or sedation.
- Inserting an electrode probe into the rectum.
- Applying mild electrical impulses to stimulate the nerves controlling ejaculation.
- Collecting the ejaculated semen in a sterile container.
Recovery of Semen from Vagina After Service
