    Field Events: High Jump and Long Jump

    Field events are athletic competitions involving jumping, throwing, or vaulting, unlike track events which focus on running. Field events demand skill and practice.

    Examples of Field Events

    Field events encompass a variety of athletic competitions that test different physical skills. These include:

    1. High Jump
    2. Long Jump
    3. Triple Jump
    4. Pole Vault
    5. Javelin Throw
    6. Shot Put
    7. Discus Throw

    rules of High Jump

    High jump, like other sports, has rules for safety and fairness. These rules ensure fair play and safety for all participants. The following are the rules of high jump:

    1. Jump off one foot after a run-up.
    2. Clear the bar without knocking it down.
    3. Land safely on the mat.
    4. Three attempts per height.
    5. The bar’s height increases progressively.
    6. Athletes must adhere to the judge’s instructions.
    7. No somersaulting or dangerous techniques are allowed.

    Rules of Long Jump

    Long jump also has rules to ensure a fair and safe competition. These rules ensure that the competition is conducted fairly and safely. They are:

    1. Run to gain speed.
    2. Jump from the take-off board.
    3. Land in the sandpit.
    4. Distance measured from the board to the landing mark.
    5. Three to six attempts per athlete.
    6. The jump is measured from the nearest break in the sand made by any part of the body.
    7. Athletes must not step over the take-off board.
