Pupils’ Activity: Pupils respond to the greeting and listen attentively to the teacher’s introduction to the revision lesson.

Learning Point: Recall of prior knowledge

Step 2: Revision of Arabic Alphabet (حروف الهجاء)

Time: 8 minutes

Teaching Skill: Pronunciation and Recognition

Teacher’s Activity: The teacher displays flashcards of Arabic letters one by one, pronounces each letter clearly, and asks pupils to repeat after him/her. The teacher pays attention to common pronunciation errors and corrects them gently. The teacher also asks pupils to identify letters shown on flashcards.

Pupils’ Activity: Pupils repeat the pronunciation of each letter after the teacher and identify letters shown on flashcards. They practice saying the letters correctly.

Learning Point: Arabic alphabet recognition

Step 3: Revision of Short Vowels (الحركات القصيرة)

Time: 7 minutes

Teaching Skill: Application and Identification

Teacher’s Activity: The teacher reviews the three short vowels (fathah, kasrah, dammah) by drawing them on the board and explaining their sounds. The teacher then writes simple letters with different vowels (e.g., بَ, بِ, بُ) and asks pupils to pronounce them. The teacher also shows flashcards with letters carrying short vowels.

Teacher Guide for Using This Lesson Plan

Before the lesson, ensure all instructional materials, especially the revision flashcards (ةعجارملاُتاقاطبُ) for letters, vowels, words, and numbers, are prepared and easily accessible. Arrange the classroom to allow for both individual and pair/group work during practice sessions. Begin the lesson by creating a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere, using Arabic greetings to set the tone.

Follow the instructional procedures sequentially. During Step 2 (Alphabet), actively observe pupils’ pronunciation and provide immediate, gentle corrections to address common errors like confusing similar letter sounds or shapes. For Step 3 (Short Vowels), use the whiteboard to clearly demonstrate how each vowel changes the sound of a letter; this visual aid is crucial for Primary 1 pupils. In Step 4 (Greetings), encourage role-playing to make the practice engaging and practical. For Steps 5 and 6 (Words and Numbers), use the flashcards extensively to keep pupils engaged and reinforce visual recognition.

Pause after each revision segment to check for understanding before moving to the next. Encourage pupils to ask questions if they are unsure. The Board Summary should be written clearly and concisely, allowing pupils to copy it towards the end of the lesson or as homework, depending on time. For weaker learners, focus on core recognition and pronunciation, providing more one-on-one support. For faster learners, offer additional challenges such as forming simple phrases or identifying new words from a text. Maintain a positive and patient approach throughout the revision to build pupils’ confidence in Arabic Language.
