Lesson Content/Board Summary
Whole Numbers 6-9
Counting Objects 6-9
We count objects to know how many there are. Let us count objects in groups:
- Six (6) oranges
- Seven (7) pencils
- Eight (8) books
- Nine (9) children
Matching Quantities with Numerals 6-9
Each group of objects has a number that tells us how many. We match the number of objects to the correct numeral.
- Count 6 sticks and match them to the numeral ‘6’.
- Count 7 bottle tops and match them to the numeral ‘7’.
- Count 8 stones and match them to the numeral ‘8’.
- Count 9 fingers and match them to the numeral ‘9’.
Reading and Writing Numerals 6-9
We read and write numbers so we can understand and use them.
- 6 – Six
- 7 – Seven
- 8 – Eight
- 9 – Nine
Practice writing each number neatly in your notebook.
Ordering Numbers 6-9
Ordering numbers means putting them in the correct sequence from smallest to largest or largest to smallest.
- Numbers 6, 7, 8, 9 are in order from smallest to largest.
- Numbers 9, 8, 7, 6 are in order from largest to smallest.
Filling Missing Numbers 6-9
We can find the numbers that are missing in a sequence.
- 6, __, 8, 9 (The missing number is 7)
- __, 7, 8, 9 (The missing number is 6)
- 6, 7, __, 9 (The missing number is 8)
