Children’s Day: AMBO Promises Better Education and Equal Opportunities for Osun Children

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has pledged to restore the glory of education and ensure that every child in the state has access to quality learning opportunities regardless of their background or location.

Speaking during the celebration of International Children’s Day, Oyebamiji said no child in Osun should be denied success because of poverty, poor infrastructure, or living in rural communities.

The APC candidate shared his personal journey from growing up in a modest community in Ikire to becoming a prominent public servant and politician. According to him, his story proves that children from humble backgrounds can achieve greatness when given access to quality education and support.

Oyebamiji promised that if elected governor in the August 15 governorship election, his administration would focus strongly on education, healthcare, child welfare, and security through the implementation of his PROSPERITY Agenda. He emphasized that children in rural communities should enjoy the same educational opportunities available in urban areas.

According to him, improving public education would remain one of the top priorities of his administration. He expressed concern over what he described as the decline in educational standards and child welfare programmes in the state.

The governorship hopeful praised previous APC administrations for introducing reforms that improved public schools through better infrastructure, modern facilities, and policies that attracted national recognition. He stated that Osun once stood out as a model for quality public education in Nigeria.

Oyebamiji also criticized the cancellation of the school feeding programme introduced by former APC governments, describing it as a major setback for children from low-income families. He explained that the programme helped increase school enrolment, improved attendance, and supported better learning outcomes among pupils.

He assured residents that the school feeding programme would be restored if he becomes governor. According to him, policies that encourage learning, reduce poverty, and strengthen confidence in public education would return under his administration.

The APC candidate further promised a complete overhaul of the state’s education sector. His plans include renovating abandoned school buildings, recruiting qualified teachers, improving learning materials, and introducing technology-driven educational policies across all local government areas.

He stated that no child should be forced to study in unsafe classrooms or under poor learning conditions while public resources are wasted. He added that education would once again become a source of pride for Osun State.

On healthcare, Oyebamiji expressed concern about the condition of many primary healthcare centres across the state. He described the situation as unacceptable and promised urgent improvements in maternal and child healthcare services, especially in rural communities where facilities often lack equipment, drugs, and personnel.

He also pledged to improve security in schools by working with security agencies, local communities, and technology-based surveillance systems to protect students and teachers from insecurity and kidnapping threats.

According to Oyebamiji, children and young people remain the foundation of the PROSPERITY Agenda, which focuses on poverty reduction, responsive governance, security, education renewal, healthcare improvement, agriculture, and infrastructure development.

He encouraged children across Osun State to remain hopeful and continue pursuing their dreams despite current challenges. He also called on parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to support efforts aimed at rebuilding the education and healthcare sectors in the state.

The APC candidate maintained that every child in Osun deserves equal access to quality education, healthcare, and opportunities for a brighter future.
