Anambra Begins Distribution of Learning Materials to Basic Schools

The Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board has commenced the distribution of learning materials to basic education schools across Anambra State as part of efforts to improve the quality of teaching and learning in public schools.

The educational materials were provided through a partnership between the Universal Basic Education Commission and ASUBEB. Items distributed include exercise books, textbooks, statutory teaching materials, interactive digital boards, school bags, sports equipment, charts, marine craft, and other essential learning resources.

Speaking during the exercise, the Executive Chairman of ASUBEB, Dr Justina Anyadiegwu, described the initiative as part of the ongoing educational transformation agenda of Chukwuma Soludo.

She noted that the distribution of the materials reflects the state government’s strong commitment to improving the future of school children through quality basic education. According to her, the intervention is expected to strengthen classroom learning and improve teaching outcomes across schools in the state.

Anyadiegwu also praised the governor for his support for the education sector and commended UBEC for its continued partnership and commitment to enhancing basic education delivery in Nigeria.

She explained that beyond the provision of infrastructure and learning materials, the current administration is focused on building smart schools, smart teachers, and smart learners equipped with modern skills needed for the 21st century.

A representative of UBEC, Kingsley Nlewedim, reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to advancing basic education nationwide. He stated that the learning materials supplied to Anambra schools would improve classroom comfort, support effective teaching, and encourage sporting activities among pupils.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Anayo Okpalaeke, alongside the Commissioner for Education represented by Permanent Secretary Dr Ebele Agbaizu, described the initiative as a major milestone in the effort to strengthen basic education in the state.

They emphasized that the Anambra State Government remains intentional about policies that promote educational development, noting that education remains the foundation for the growth and success of pupils and students.

One of the beneficiaries, Miss Precious Jackson of Udeozor Memorial Primary School in Awka, expressed gratitude to the state government for providing learning materials that would support students academically.
