Soludo, Wife Reaffirm Commitment to Quality Education for Anambra Children

The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, and his wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, have reaffirmed their commitment to providing quality education for children across the state.

The Governor made this known during the 2026 Children’s Day celebration held at Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, where pupils and students from various primary and secondary schools participated in a colourful march past.

Speaking at the event, Governor Soludo praised the enthusiasm of children in Anambra towards education and highlighted the state’s progress in reducing the number of out-of-school children. According to him, Anambra currently has one of the lowest out-of-school children rates in Nigeria.

He explained that previous reports placed the state’s out-of-school children rate at 2.6 percent, a figure he described as the lowest in the country. The Governor noted that the statistics were recorded before the introduction of free education and scholarship programmes in public primary and secondary schools.

Governor Soludo expressed confidence that the state’s education policies would further reduce the number of children without access to schooling. He stressed that the government’s long-term goal is to completely eliminate the problem of out-of-school children in Anambra State.

Mrs. Nonye Soludo also used the occasion to celebrate children in the state, describing them as the pride and future of Anambra. She assured parents and students that the government would continue to invest in education, mentorship, and opportunities that would help young people achieve their dreams.

According to her, every child has the potential to succeed when provided with proper guidance, quality education, and the right environment to grow. She encouraged children to remain focused on their studies and continue developing their talents and abilities.

The event also featured educational and cultural activities aimed at promoting confidence, creativity, leadership, and patriotism among students.

Observers say the state government’s continued investment in education could further strengthen Anambra’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading states in academic excellence and human capital development.
