A governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State, Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving the education sector as part of efforts to secure a better future for young learners.

Speaking during a press briefing, Ajadi emphasized that his administration, if elected in 2027, would prioritize grassroots development by identifying and nurturing talents while providing support for vulnerable and underprivileged children.

As part of this vision, he announced the launch of a “Back-to-School Initiative,” scheduled to begin on April 28, 2026, across the seven geopolitical zones of the state. The programme is designed to mark the resumption of the 2025/2026 third academic term.

According to Ajadi, the initiative will provide essential school materials to over 200 pupils, including uniforms, socks, sandals, and other learning resources. The goal is to ease the financial burden on families while encouraging consistent school attendance among children in public primary schools.

He explained that the programme will also support ongoing education efforts by the administration of Seyi Makinde, particularly in addressing the issue of out-of-school children in the state.

The initiative is being implemented in partnership with the Catch Them Young Campaign Initiative to ensure effective delivery of support to pupils in government-owned primary schools.

In Ibadan, the first phase of the programme will cover selected schools such as Ode Aje Primary School, Kumapayi Primary School in Olodo, IDC Primary School in Odo-Ona, L.A Special School in Gate, and St. Luke’s Demonstration Basic School in Molete.

Ajadi further revealed that the programme will be extended to other parts of the state in the coming weeks, ensuring that more pupils benefit from the initiative.
