Lesson Content/Board Summary
Entrepreneurial Awareness And Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurial Awareness
Entrepreneurial awareness is the understanding and recognition of opportunities, resources, and challenges associated with starting and running a business. It involves being conscious of the entrepreneurial mindset, the skills required, and the potential for innovation and problem-solving in various sectors, including fashion and garment making.
Entrepreneur
An entrepreneur is an individual who identifies a business opportunity, takes the initiative to start a new business, and is willing to take on financial risks in the hope of profit. In fashion, an entrepreneur might be a designer who starts their own clothing line, a tailor who opens a bespoke shop, or someone who creates a platform for selling handmade garments.
Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship is the process of designing, launching, and running a new business, often starting as a small business, and taking on all the risks and rewards of the venture. It involves creativity, innovation, risk-taking, and strategic planning to bring new products or services to the market. For garment making, entrepreneurship could involve developing a unique clothing brand, offering custom tailoring services, or manufacturing specific fashion accessories.
Enterprise
An enterprise refers to a business organisation or company, especially one that is set up for commercial purposes. It is the actual business entity created by an entrepreneur through the process of entrepreneurship. Examples in the fashion industry include a fashion house, a garment factory, a boutique, or a fabric supply company.
Differentiation of Entrepreneur, Entrepreneurship, and Enterprise
The three terms are closely related but represent different aspects of business creation:
- Entrepreneur: This is the person. The individual who conceives, organises, and manages the business venture, bearing the risks.
- Entrepreneurship: This is the process. The act or activity of starting and running a business, involving innovation, risk-taking, and resource management.
- Enterprise: This is the outcome/entity. The actual business or organisation that is created and operated by the entrepreneur through entrepreneurship.
Qualities of a Good Garment Designer
A good garment designer possesses a combination of creative, technical, and business-oriented qualities. These include:
- Creativity and Innovation: The ability to generate new ideas, designs, and styles that are unique and appealing.
