Importance of Marketing

Functions of Marketing
The main functions of marketing are:

The Marketing Mix (4 Ps)
The marketing mix refers to the set of controllable tactical marketing tools that a company blends to produce the response it wants in the target market. These are:
- Product: The goods or services offered to the target market, including features, quality, design, branding, and packaging.
- Price: The amount of money customers have to pay to obtain the product, considering pricing strategies, discounts, allowances, and payment terms.
- Place (Distribution): Activities that make the product available to target consumers, including channels, coverage, locations, inventory, and transportation.
- Promotion: Activities that communicate the merits of the product and persuade target customers to buy it, such as advertising, personal selling, sales promotion, and public relations.
Types of Markets
Markets can be classified based on various criteria:
- Consumer Market: Individuals and households who buy goods and services for personal consumption.
- Industrial/Business Market: Organizations that buy goods and services for use in the production of other products and services, or for resale to others.
- Government Market: Government agencies that buy goods and services to produce public services or transfer them to others who need them.
