2. Consent of Both Parties: Both the prospective husband and wife must willingly agree to the marriage without coercion.
3. Presence of Witnesses: At least two upright Muslim male witnesses (or one male and two female witnesses) must be present at the time of the contract.

5. Presence of a Wali (Guardian) for the Bride: The bride’s legal guardian (usually her father or closest male relative) must consent to and represent her in the marriage contract.
6. Absence of Legal Impediments: There must be no permanent or temporary impediments to the marriage (e.g., blood relation, foster relation, existing marriage to more than four wives, marriage during Iddah).
7. Publicity: The marriage should not be kept secret; it should be announced to the community.

Rights and Duties of Husband and Wife in Islam

1. Mahr (Dowry): The right to receive the agreed-upon dowry from her husband.
