Abiodun’s Aide Sponsors NECO Fees for 75 Indigent Ogun Students

A senior aide to the Governor of Ogun State, Jamiu Ogundele, has paid the National Examinations Council (NECO) registration fees for 75 outstanding students from indigent families across the Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency.

The initiative is aimed at encouraging academic excellence and easing the financial burden on struggling parents amid current economic challenges.

According to a statement issued by the Zonal Information Officer, Mr. Lateef Akintunde, the beneficiaries were selected from 25 secondary schools across the constituency. The programme covered the top three students from 10 selected senior secondary schools in Yewa North Local Government and 15 schools in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area.

Speaking on the intervention, Ogundele described education as a powerful tool for societal growth and sustainable development. He explained that the sponsorship was introduced to motivate students to remain committed to their education while also supporting families who may find it difficult to afford examination fees.

He emphasized that rewarding hardworking students would encourage more young people to pursue excellence in their academic activities. According to him, education remains one of the strongest foundations for building a better society and creating future opportunities for the younger generation.

Ogundele also noted that government alone cannot meet every educational need, stressing the importance of stakeholders contributing toward the growth of education in the state. He added that the programme reflects his commitment to supporting the developmental agenda of Dapo Abiodun at the grassroots level through impactful educational support initiatives.

The governor’s aide further urged the beneficiaries to remain focused on their studies and make proper use of the opportunity given to them. He explained that the initiative goes beyond simply paying examination fees, describing it as an investment in the future of local communities and the empowerment of the next generation.

The gesture has received praise from parents, community leaders, and residents within the constituency, many of whom described the intervention as timely and impactful considering the prevailing economic situation in the country.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Miss Ruqoyah Adefunke Adebiyi, a student of Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro, expressed appreciation for the support, stating that the sponsorship had given many students renewed hope and motivation to perform better academically.

Another beneficiary, Miss Suliat Kehinde Sikiru of Nazareth High School, Imeko, also thanked the donor and prayed for greater success in his public service career.
