Nigerian School Girls Shine in International AI Competition

Students of Ado Girls Secondary School have earned global recognition after winning the Outstanding Organization Award at the International AI Youth Competition organized by the International AI Youth Education Society (AIYES).

The achievement marks a major milestone for the school and highlights the growing impact of digital education initiatives in Nigeria. The award was presented following the competition held between December 2025 and February 2026, where students from several countries participated.

The success of the students has been linked to the Digital Access Program introduced by TechQuest STEM Academy in partnership with Cummins Inc.. The programme currently provides 750 students and 10 teachers with training in digital literacy, artificial intelligence, and emerging technology skills.

The recognition demonstrates how early exposure to structured digital learning can transform educational outcomes, especially for girls in public secondary schools.

Reacting to the achievement, the Head of Service of Anambra State, Ngozi Anuli Iwouno, praised the school for competing successfully against teams from countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, China, and Russia. She described the achievement as evidence that Nigerian students can excel globally when given the right opportunities and support.

Also speaking on the development, Ify Alex Anene said the organization remains committed to supporting communities through education and empowerment initiatives. According to her, the success of the students reflects the importance of providing young girls with access to mentorship, digital tools, and opportunities needed to thrive in today’s technology-driven world.

Co-Founder of TechQuest STEM Academy, Charles Emembolu, described the victory as proof that Nigerian students can achieve global standards when supported with quality infrastructure, modern curriculum, and proper guidance. He added that the organization plans to expand the programme to more schools across the country.

Although the award ceremony was initially held virtually, the achievement was later celebrated physically during the school’s Career Fair Day. Students showcased their projects and achievements in the presence of school leaders, representatives of Cummins, and members of the TechQuest team.

Beyond the international recognition, the Digital Access Program is expected to create long-term educational benefits by improving teachers’ digital capacity, integrating technology into learning, and opening pathways to innovation and global opportunities for students.

The initiative also supports efforts to bridge the digital divide, promote gender inclusion in technology, and prepare Nigerian students for the future workforce.
