Question 1: (a) Early stages: counting tools such as abacus; mechanical calculators; electronic computers; modern digital devices (any two, 2 each). (b) E.g. software developer—writes code; network technician—configures/troubleshoots networks; cybersecurity specialist—protects systems; IT support technician—assists users (any two named careers plus matching duties, 3 each).
Question 2: (a) Inputs e.g. keyboard, mouse, scanner; outputs e.g. monitor, printer, speaker (1 mark for each of four correctly classified devices). (b) Bit = a binary digit; byte = 8 bits (3). (c) Storage retains documents, applications and other data for later use (any three distinct functions/examples, 1 each).
Question 3: (a) MS Word supports typing/editing letters and preparing formatted reports (2 each). (b) Word has a document/page layout; PowerPoint uses slides; Word is mainly for continuous text; PowerPoint is for slide-based presentations; presentations may use transitions and speaker-led displays (3 distinct contrasts, 2 each).
Question 4: (a) 3D modelling represents objects with length, width and depth; uses include visualising objects and making design prototypes (5 total). (b) Input → processing → output, with storage where applicable; explain an example of one stage (5 total).
