Lesson Content
Methods Of Tie And Dye
Tie and dye is a method of creating patterns on fabric by tying parts of the cloth and dipping it in dye. The tied parts resist the dye and remain plain while the rest becomes coloured.
The following are methods of Tie and Dye:
- Folding Method: This method involves folding the cloth in a specific way before dyeing. It gives unique patterns depending on the fold.
- Twisting Method: This involves twisting the fabric tightly before tying it and applying dye.It gives circular or spiral designs.
- Stitching Method: In this method, parts of the fabric are stitched with thread before dyeing. The stitched areas resist the dye.
- Knotting Method: This involves making knots on the cloth before putting it in dye. It gives dotted and random designs.
