Home and Its Surroundings

Cleaning is the process of removing dirt, dust, and other unwanted substances from our homes and surroundings. It helps us to keep our environment healthy and safe.

Tools and Materials Used for Cleaning

There are many tools and materials used for cleaning. These include:

  1. Broom: A broom is used to sweep dirt and debris from floors and other surfaces.It has a long handle and bristles that are made of straw, plastic, or other materials.
  2. Mop: A mop is used to clean floors with water and detergent. It has a long handle and a head that is made of cotton, sponge, or other materials.
  3. Dustpan: A dustpan is used to collect dirt and debris that has been swept up with a broom. It has a flat, shallow base and a handle.
  4. Bucket: A bucket is used to hold water and detergent for cleaning.It is usually made of plastic or metal.
  5. Cleaning cloths: Cleaning cloths are used to wipe surfaces and clean spills. They are usually made of cotton or microfiber.
  6. Sponge: A sponge is used to scrub surfaces and clean dishes. it is usually made of foam or cellulose.
  7. Detergent: Detergent is a cleaning agent that is used to remove dirt and grime. It is available in liquid, powder, or tablet form.

Maintenance of Tools and Materials Used for Cleaning

It is important to maintain our cleaning tools to keep them in good condition and ensure they are effective. Some of the ways to maintain cleaning tools include:

  1. Wash cleaning cloths after use to prevent the spread of germs.
  2. Store brooms with the bristle up to avoid bending and damage.
  3. Rinse mops after use and hang them to dry to prevent mold and mildew growth.
