By the end of the lesson, pupils shoudl be able to:

    Rationale for the Lesson

    This lesson teaches children the importance of hygiene and self-care.Knowing how to care for their footwear and clothes helps children develop good habits that contribute to their overall well-being and personal responsibility.


    Prerequisite/Previous Knowledge

    Pupils are familiar with different types of clothing and footwear.


    Lesson Content

    Footwear:

    Footwear protects our feet and makes walking agreeable. Examples include shoes, sandals, and slippers.

    Ways of Caring for Our Footwear:

    Caring for footwear ensures they last longer and protects our feet from germs. The following are ways of caring for our footwear:

    1. Wash and dry feet before putting on footwear.
    2. Wear clean socks with shoes.
    3. Ensure shoes fit properly.
    4. Store footwear in dry places.
    5. Polish leather shoes regularly to maintain their appearance.
    6. Air out footwear after use to prevent odor and moisture buildup.

    Clothes:

    Clothes cover, protect, and adorn our bodies.Examples include shirts,trousers,and dresses.

    Ways of Caring for Our Clothes:

    Proper care of clothes ensures they remain clean, durable, and presentable.These include:

    1. Wash clothes regularly with soap and water.
    2. Dry clothes properly before storing.
    3. Store clean clothes in dry places, like wardrobes.
    4. Iron clothes to remove wrinkles and maintain a neat appearance.
    5. Mend torn clothes promptly to prevent further damage.
    6. Fold or hang clothes properly to avoid creases and maintain their shape.
